An Open Letter to President-elect Biden
Dear Mr. President-elect,
My name is Kent Anderson and I am a 62-year-old white male. I live in Sterling Heights, Michigan. I voted for you and Ms. Harris because I was tired of waking up every morning and thinking ‘has he started World War III yet?’
I understand the precedent of ‘looking forward and not back,’ but by doing that, we fail to reconcile the sins of the past. Jesus, in teaching the Lord’s Prayer, said ‘forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us,’ but there comes a point to which forgiveness is impossible and trespasses cannot be ignored.
Your nascent transition, indeed your very ability to take the oath of office is being sabotaged by the pettiness of Donald Trump and his minions. From Emily W. Murphy to Monica Potter to Mike Pompeo, are attempting to subvert an election that you won, in both the Electoral College and popular vote.
Yet, there are continuing stories and reports that you will pardon Trump to avoid the wrath of MAGA-America. Trying to appease those who virulently hate you and follow the every word of a career conman is, to put it bluntly, not going to happen.
Per the New York Times:
“My Democratic friends think Biden is going to heal everything and unify everyone,” said a resident of Mason, Texas. “They are deceived.”
