Back when the dinosaurs roamed (aka the 1960s-80s), my grandmother was the master of this. It was called 'passing judgement.' My grandmother passed judgement on everything - who I was dating "She's Jewish, you can't marry her," to friends, "Stay away from Catholic boys, they're all gay," to my personal hygiene, "you need to shower every day." It only stopped after she had a stroke and was incapacitated.

It's been happening since time immortal.
