Eleven Years and an Hour Later

Eleven years ago today, I watched Barack Obama become the 44th President of the United States. I took my dad and step-mother out for lunch and we celebrated that and our server’s recent baby.

His inauguration co-incited with my dad’s 74th birthday. I had just turned 50 the previous October. My 40s were a decade of change, bad decisions, homelessness and redemption.
