I have a friend who, following The Bad Night*, got put on a right-wing watch list. He (and his wife) got death threats and were forced to go underground for about seven months. He deactivated all his social media accounts as well as limiting his communication with the outside world. He had police protection and the university he worked for cut back his class load and he was only required to show up on exam days and days when a new lecture was to start (about a third of the semester-and-a-half).
