I think you missed the point. If you don't have the income, you can't save money. Ms. Land's cobbling together $50,000 (even though she somehow got her novel turned into a Netflix series with Andie McDowell's daughter playing her) through a series of grants, loans and SNAP benefits to get her MFA (why?). Even after getting rejected by the University of Montana? It makes no sense. When I was finishing up my college adventure, I took a few graduate courses while still an undergrad. They were OK, but I never saw the need for them.
