I was born in 1958. I have Cerebral Palsy. I should not be here. I was a Christmas baby who was born in October. I spent two months in an incubator and had a collapsed lung at six months. The doctors told my parents I might live to 12, 20 if I was lucky. I didn't talk until I was four. My mother smoked. This was six years before the Surgeon General's report. I have never walked independently a day in my life. My mother has said she wishes she had known better. She will be 84 in early December. Happy Belated Birthday to your daughter, Jessica.
