I wrote this Sunday night on Facebook:
"So, at the end of this Mothers Day, I am glad that my mother is still here and that I talked with her earlier and she got calls from all three of us. But not all of us had mothers who were loving, wonderful and caring. Having read pieces on Medium and Substack today reminded me of that. So, as we celebrate our mom's, we must remember others' whose memories aren't warm and fuzzy. My best wishes for everyone, no matter what, is that we are all worthy of love and kindness, no matter who we are or were raised by."
And then, in response to a friend/follower who said what I wrote spoke to her:
"we all have baggage. Very few people I know or have met don't and they're probably in denial about that as well. The stories I read yesterday were undeniably horrifying, but they somehow survived. We all go through stuff, all throughout our lives. That I've survived this long is astonishing in my eyes. I'm glad what I wrote gave you solace."
Happy belated Mother's Day, Shannon.
