In the 1990s, there was an infomercial featuring a middle-aged man named Carleton Sheets and he was, in effect, the first guy to show people how to 'flip' houses. People brought the videos, very few mastered the techniques, and Mr. Sheets (who died last year) and his partners made millions while people complained to the Better Business Bureau and state AG's about his practices and refunds.
