It Is Time

We have reached an inflection point in history. For the past two years and four months, we have seen the end result of 40 years of craven greed, obstruction and outright disdain for anything civil in one party and outright cowardliness and acquiescence in the other.

We have stood by for too long for this shit to continue. We stood by as Reagan fed the monkeybrains to the masses and allowed nobodies like Grover Norquist and N. Leroy Gingrich to have power and sway over two generations of conservatives. We allowed carnival barkers like Morton Downey, Jr., Rush Limbaugh and others to poison the AM radio dial. We stood by and watched Walter Cronkite, Huntley and Brinkley and other trusted broadcasters be replaced by talking heads and Tom Brokaw. We stood by and watched as an Australian scandal-sheet publisher become an American so he could bring us Al Bundy and Homer Simpson and then other, more dangerously real clowns like Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson. We have stood by as our friends and family have turned ‘Liberal,’ into a pejorative. We stood by as the first (semi) African-American President was smeared and dismissed and yet he won re-election.
