It's not quite all a disaster. Michigan just codified gay and trans rights under the Elliott/Larson Civil Rights Act and abolished the 1931 abortion law. So, there will be a 'save haven' of sorts for those who seek protection and medical care. But the state's pro-lifers aren't stopping with efforts to dismantle Elliott/Larson. Every 16 years the voters are asked to revisit Michigan's Constitution. In 2008, voters narrowly rejected it. Now, with the political headwinds shifting, we might see a 'yes' vote on reworking the state's Constitution. And not in a good way.
