MSNBC’s Mehdi Mess

Mehdi Hasan got fired yesterday at MSNBC. If you don’t know who Hasan is, you’re excused. But by the time you finish reading this post, you will understand that the people who shit-canned him, well, should be shit-canned themselves.

For the uninitiated, Hasan, who hosted an hour on Sunday nights (and occasionally as a fill-in host for others), is a British-American journalist, author and speaker who hosted The Mehdi Hasan Show on both MSNBC and their streaming service, Peacock since 2021. He is also one of three Muslim broadcasters on the so-called ‘liberal’ network. Ali Velshi and Ayman Mohyeldin (who’s 7pm Sunday show will now expand to encompass Hasan’s hour at eight) are the two others.

This is yet another firing by the so-called ‘liberal’ MSNBC to either a) appease advertisers, b) silence those with ‘controversial’ stances and c) cut costs. This from a network that pays Rachel Maddow $31 million a year for one show a week (and the occasional junior varsity Republican shouting match).

Last year, the weekend before the mid-term elections, Tiffany Cross was fired from her weekend slot The Cross Connection, because, Tucker Carlson didn’t like her. The Swanson boy, who got fired in the wake of False Noise’s Dominion settlement, bitching about a weekend program on a rival network? Who does he think he is? Bill-O (who’s still a clown)?

Keith Olbermann, the one-time ‘star,’ of MSNBC, supposed liberal network, on his podcast yesterday, called the firing “asinine and ignorant.” He also singled out the…
