My problem was never my parents. It was my step-parents. Mostly my step-father. He was a braggart, abusive and always right. He died last year. My step-mom liked to say, "I'm so glad I'm not a part of this family." I've always thought, to myself, if she didn't want to have a family, let alone one with a severely disabled son (me), when did she have an affair with and marry my dad?
