My step-father made a lot of money. He died broke. He and my mother had to take out a reverse mortgage on the house they built and they paid for when they retired. Now my mother had to fight with Social Security to get on his benefits. I paid $78 to get the marriage license from the state and travel down to North Carolina to give it to her. The thing with reverse mortgages is that it's paid back after you die. So, when my mom dies, the house will be sold and none of us will see a dime.
