Not surprising. But you don't have to go to Rural America to find this. Try Macomb County, Michigan, outside of Detroit, for a dose of Trumpism. I know people who claim to have been involved in the events of 1/6 (including the guy with the infamous 'Trump Unity Van'), but they weren't part of the mayhem. Yeah, right. I've ended friendships/associations with people I've known 30-years-plus because of this. I've written about this as well.
