The only way this ends is if everything stops for six weeks. Nobody goes anywhere, no sports, movies, or work of any kind. Government pauses rent, mortgage payments, everything. Everyone gets a $3500 stimulus check. No Zoom calls, nothing of any kind.

A friend pointed this out last night in a discussion on Facebook. She said "Just in time production metastasized from products to services, leaving us with no slack in the system. Everything, including health care, was staffed and supplied for the minimum; now that we need more it's not there. And it was always designed to leave out a lot of people."

I responded "both my Doctors are in their 70s. The way they see it, they can't retire for another decade. Nurses are a different story. There are plenty of nurses, but starting in the late-80s, colleges and universities started cutting out the LPN programs. Many of those became Nurse Practitioners, a hybrid of a Nurse and a Doctor. With a four-year degree sans Medical School. This is why you have a shortage of both."
