The problem lies deeper than Trump. One of our political parties has run itself into a cycle they may never break out of. The Republican Party has morphed into a party of fear. It's run on fear since 1964, but Nixon, Reagan, both Bush's and even Ford, Dole and McCain ran on fear. Trump just added resentment and hate to it.

I know someone in State politics who told me there were enough votes to convict Trump after 1/6. But Trump found out and threatened to form a third party and McConnell caved. Had the Senate convicted him, we would be having a completely different conversation.

Also, to your assertion that after capitalism comes fascism isn't necessarily the case. People will still need to purchase goods and services. I think, if Trump falls into his base instincts, he, or his minions, will unleash a form of anarchy. Hegseth, Patel, RFK Jr., Oz and Gabbard are dangerous people with truly terrible policy ideas. If Social Security checks stop coming, if tariffs raise prices 30%, if Schedule F is enacted, if students or immigrants here legally are deported, who's going to pick the crops and do the gardening?

We are about to find out.
