We all hope for better things. But then life isn't built on hope. Sometimes, you can break it off. I knew a woman off and on for 30 years - almost to the day - before letting her go. She was an alcoholic and very verbally abusive. Another one was just manipulating me. That didn't last too long. I still keep in touch with a couple ex's on occasion, but less and less now.
