Whites haven't voted Democratic since 1964. I was six. Read Rick Pearlstein's books. They give the nearly complete picture of Goldwater to Reagan. The usual suspects show up as well. Hoffa, Meany, Agnew, Rove, Buchanan, Schlafly, Kissinger, Ford, etc. Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Obama and Biden all tried and failed to win back the middle-class. They couldn't. I've had people who fall into that category tell me, 'the Democratic Party left me.' To which I always tell them, 'bullshit, you never were a Democrat to begin with.'
