You write about the Rolling Stones, while failing to mention all those 50s singers who ripped off Fats Domino and Chuck Berry. Like say, Pat Boone. (I give Ricky Nelson a pass because Ozzie paid the royalties) Also, there was plenty of 'Northern" Country and Western stations. I'm from Detroit, but spent seven years of my youth at a boarding school for disabled kids in North Dakota. All that you heard on the radio was country and Lawrence Welk. Also, a small quibble. Marshall Mathers didn't grow up 'in 8 mile.' He grew up in Macomb County, as did Robert Ritchie. Eight Mile Road (also known as Base Line) is the northern boundary of Detroit and Oakland and Macomb Counties. There are plenty of people here in Detroit who can't stand Eminem or the Seger-wanna-be. I was around those two 25 years ago when they were young punks. They haven't grown up, trust me. And don't get me started on Ted Nuggent.
