Your sister (and you) were lucky. In Qatar, the ‘workers’ building the stadia for the 2022 World Cup (maybe) have their passports confiscated and they never get paid. Usually from Bangladesh or Muslim India, the workers who do survive are sent home with the equivalent of $50–150. Those are the exception, not the rule. Most get sent home in a box.

The Kingdom is living on borrowed time. Those rich women (and their husbands) have purchased villas in Switzerland and other havens for the ultra-wealthy. The rest of the country will fall into sectarian violence within months. Turkey will swoop in, restore order and a second Ottoman Empire will begin.
